Walter F. Scott

Walter F. Scott (born December 5, 1856 in Barre , Vermont , † 1938 ) was an American bank manager and politician who was State Treasurer of Vermont from 1915 to 1923 .

Life

Walter F. Scott was born to Charles A. and Elvira H. Scott. He attended the Goddard seminary in Barre. From 1878 to 1880 he was clerk of the Central Vermont Railway in Brandon , Vermont. For the Brandon National Bank he worked from 1880. From 1883 as a cashier.

As a member of the Republican Party , he was Brandon's Treasurer for more than 20 years. In 1906 he was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives, in 1908 to the Vermont Senate . He was a member of the Means and Ways and Banking Commission and, as a senator, was Chairman of the Banking Commission and a member of the Committee on Insurance and State and Judicial Development.

In 1914, he won the election of Vermont Treasurer. He held this office from 1915 to 1923.

Walter F. Scott died in 1938. His grave is in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans , Vermont.
