Thomas H. Cave

Thomas H. Cave (born July 16, 1870 in Berlin , Vermont , † October 20, 1958 in Barre , Vermont) was an American bank manager and politician who was State Treasurer of Vermont from 1923 to 1943 .

Life

Thomas H. Cave was born to Thomas H. Cave and Frances C. Doge Cace in Berlin, Vermont. He attended the Union School in Montpelier , Vermont.

From 1899 to 1901 he was Secretary of the Granite Manufacturers Association in Barre. In 1902 he moved to the National Bank of Barre . First as an accountant until 1906, from 1906 to 1907 he was deputy cashier of the bank, then cashier. He was also a Certified Public Accountant .

As a member of the Republican Party , he was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives for Barre in 1910 . There he was chairman of the banking committee and a member of two other committees. In 1912 he was named Deputy Treasurer of Vermont. He held this position until he was elected Treasurer of Vermont in 1922. After Benjamin Swan , he had the second-longest tenure as Treasurer of Vermont at the age of twenty.

Thomas H. Cave married Kate Humphrey Eastman in 1906. He died on October 20, 1958 in Barre, Vermont. His grave is in Hope Cemetery in Barre.
