High school and college

Before beginning his studies in the United States, Hodge graduated from high school at the Florida Air Academy in Melbourne (Florida) , where he played until 2004 with the future Russian national player Sascha Kaun . In its first two seasons for the Gators, the very talented team won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship for the first time in the history of this college team in 2006 and was able to repeat the championship the following year. The entire starting lineup of the Gators was then almost up to Lee Humphrey in the 2007 NBA draft selected, with Al Horford , Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah were among the top ten players in the Entry Draft were selected during next Taurean Green substitute Chris Richard in the second round was chosen.

After this bloodletting, the Gators could not qualify for the finals of the NCAA in the following two seasons, when the Jayhawks of the University of Kansas to Hodge 'schoolmate Sascha Kaun succeeded the Gators in 2008 as title winners. Five players were also selected by the Jayhawks in the 2008 NBA draft , but none of the top ten “ picks ”. Instead, the Gators received twice an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), where they were eliminated in the 2008 NIT Final Four in the semifinals. After completing his studies in 2009, Hodge was not selected by an NBA club in the draft despite his largely successful college career.

Professional career

After Hodge took part in the 2009 American Basketball Championship for the US Virgin Islands in the summer of 2009 , where the national team remained without a win, he played in early 2010 for the Capitanes from Arecibo in his native country, which was the first time on the US mainland at the championship of the Premier Basketball League (PBL), a minor league , participated. The Capitanes were excluded from the league again after a few games in March 2010. Hodge then played in the Puerto Rican league Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) for the Cangrejeros from Santurce . But his former club Capitanes was able to successfully defend the 2010 BSN championship. Then Hodge moved to Europe and played for the Zastal from Zielona Góra in the PLK. After narrowly missing the play-offs for the Polish championship in the 2010/11 season , Hodge first played again in the BSN for Cangrejeros in the summer of 2011, but they did not reach the championship finals. At the Caribbean Championships in 2011, he won the final against hosts Bahamas with the US Virgin Islands national team . At the start of the European season he returned to Zielona Góra and was named MVP of the regular season in the PLK. With Zastal he was eliminated in the semi-final play-offs for the championship. Then, as in 2010, he was the top scorer of the tournament in his native country at the Central American Championships 2012, in which the national teams of Central America including Mexico participate .

In the 2012/13 season, Hodge and Stelmet, as the club from Zielona Góra was called for sponsorship reasons this season, took part in the European club competition Eurocup 2012/13 , where they barely made it into the knockout games in the quarter-finals failed. As the most effective player of the last two intermediate round match days, Hodge was named MVP of the match day and was the first player in two years to achieve this award on two match days in a row. In the Polish league they won the championship for the club for the first time. Then Hodge signed a contract with the Basque club Laboral Kutxa in the ACB League, which is also a permanent participant in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague . Still, Hodge is said to be playing for the New York Knicks in the 2013 NBA Summer League . After a place in the Puerto Rican national team seemed to be blocked by players like Filiberto Rivera , Carlos Arroyo and JJ Barea and Hodge therefore registered for the US Virgin Islands, he now expressed his desire to play for the national team of his country of birth.
