Wamberg is a village and district of the market Garmisch-Partenkirchen ( Upper Bavaria ) at 996  m above sea level. NHN . The town lies on the north side of Wamberg-saddle , a mountain range in the Werdenfelser country with its highest elevation, the same mountain Wamberg .

A hiking trail leads from the valley station of the Eckbauerbahn to the village, as well as from the mountain Eckbauer itself.

history

Wamberg is first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. Today's rural village at an altitude of 996 m developed from two tails . It consists of nine first courtyards, mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries, with plastered living quarters and small outbuildings. Uniform roofing with leg shingles determined the townscape in a special way for a long time. Wamberg has been part of the Parish of Partenkirchen since 1625. The church was built in 1721 in place of an older chapel. Wamberg was an independent municipality until April 30, 1978, when it was incorporated into Garmisch-Partenkirchen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Church of St. Anna

The church was built in 1720 and was on 11 September 1721 the Prince Bishop Johann Franz Eckher of Kapfing and Liechteneck ordained .
