On June 13, 1992, the Heimathaus, an old hall building in two-column construction , was inaugurated. The Liestmann'sche Haus was built around 1817 at a different location. In its 150-year existence, it has moved twice, which was not unusual in earlier times as building materials were very expensive. It was last owned by the Liestmann family, who acquired it in 1960. In 1987, the then mayor Brunkhorst had the idea of tearing down the house, which had been vacant for years, and rebuilding it on Alte Schulstrasse in Wangersen. Five years later it was inaugurated as a village community center . It houses a large kitchen and some exhibits that are displayed like in a gallery. The thatched roof house offers space for 200 people.

stories

The last mayor's ride to Wangersen

If a mayor is elected today, that is democratic. In 1950 this was completely different: the son of the old mayor became the new mayor. The “new government” was decided in the Dorfkrug. A white horse was even led into the dining room and the mayor had to ride to the former mayor's court where his mother had to give the 28-year-old her blessing. At this age he was the youngest mayor of the then administrative district of Stade .
