World Heritage in Vanuatu

The world heritage in Vanuatu (as of 2016) includes a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The oceanic island state of Vanuatu ratified the World Heritage Convention in 2002, and the only World Heritage site to date was added to the World Heritage List in 2008.

World heritage sites

The following table lists the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Vanuatu in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion on the World Heritage List (K - cultural heritage, N - natural heritage, K / N - mixed, (R) - on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger ).

2008 K 1280 The area includes "all land that is visible from the highest point of Eretoka". Mangaas on the island of Efate , the former residence of Chief Roi Mata, Fels Cave, a cave with rock paintings on the island of Lelepa , the island of Eretoka (Artok), on which the burial place of Roi Mata is located, and the sea area between these are particularly protected three sites.

Current World Heritage candidates

Currently (2017) five sites are entered in the tentative list of Vanuatu, the last entry was made in 2005. The following table lists the sites in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the tentative list.

These sites were previously on the tentative list, but were withdrawn or rejected by UNESCO. Sites that are included in other entries on the tentative list or that are part of world heritage sites are not taken into account here.
