West Pensacola is a census-designated place (CDP) in Escambia County in the US state of Florida with 21,339 inhabitants (as of 2010).

West Pensacola borders directly on Pensacola to the east . US Highways 90 ( SR 10A ) and 98 ( SR 30 ) and Florida State Roads 292 , 295 , 298 and 727 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,339 inhabitants were distributed over 10,246 households. The population density was 1,147.3 inh / km². 47.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 42.2% as African American , 1.0% as Indians and 3.3% as Asian Americans . 2.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.3% to several ethnic groups. 5.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 34.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 24.4% of all households. 60.3% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.49 people and the average family size was 3.13 people.

30.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 47.4% of the population were male and 52.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 28,567, with 31.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.92% of the population, 2.19% spoke Spanish and 2.89% had another mother tongue.
