Ensley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Escambia County in the US state of Florida with 20,602 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Ensley is about 2 km northwest of Pensacola . Interstate 10 , US Highways 29 and 90 ( SR 10 ) and Florida State Roads 290 , 291 and 297 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 20,602 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 9,677 households. The population density was 643.8 inh / km². 62.1% of the population identified themselves as whites , 29.8% as African American , 1.1% as Indians and 2.2% as Asian Americans . 1.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 4.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 31.0% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 26.5% of all households. 63.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.43 people and the average family size was 2.98 people.

25.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 38,772, with 18.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 96.43% of the population, 1.61% spoke Spanish and 1.96% had another mother tongue.
