history

The first documentary mention comes from 1188 from a document of the Adelog von Hildesheim . At that time it was a Villication of St. Godehard (Hildesheim) .

In 1305 Siegfried II of Querfurt transferred the church patronage and the tithe to the Benedictine monastery of St. Marien Gandersheim . The patronage was in 1504 with the abbess of the Gandersheim monastery . The chapels in Eyershausen , Ohlenrode and Dankelsheim belonged to the Wetteborn church .

In 1965 the place joined the municipality of Freden . In 1974, Eyershausen and Ohlenrode merged to form the Landwehr municipality, which was merged into the Freden (Leine) municipality on November 1, 2016.

Wetteborn coat of arms
Blazon : "A fist growing out of silver palisade on red , wielding a silver battle ax with gold ."
Foundation of the coat of arms: Wetteborn is the main and church village of the Winzenburger Landwehr; Ohlenrode and Eyershausen are added. The term "In der Landwehr" is still popular today and is therefore marked as a palisade in the coat of arms of the villages mentioned; this towers above the characteristic of the municipality of Wetteborn: a battle ax in a man's fist.
