Who Made Who (. English for " Who created whom ") is a music album by the Australian hard rock band AC / DC from 1986. background

The three songs Who Made Who , DT and Chase the Ace are the only songs newly written and recorded for this album, all other tracks are from previous band albums. One song is from the Bon Scott era, the others were all written under singer Brian Johnson. For this compilation the band worked for the first time again with Harry Vanda and George Young, who had last produced the live album If You Want Blood You've Got It (1978) for the band . This was her first production with Brian Johnson. During the recording of Who Made Who , the following five other short instrumental tracks were produced for the film:

  • Death City (Angus Young, Malcolm Young)
  • Bad Boy (Angus Young, Malcolm Young)
  • Contre Attack (Angus Young, Malcolm Young)
  • Scared (Angus Young, Malcolm Young)
  • Humans Here (Angus Young, Malcolm Young)

The album Who Made Who was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC / DC Remasters series . Depending on the issue, the album version (4:10) or the single version (3:53) of the title Shake Your Foundations is included. The album version can only be found on the original CDs.

reception

Who Made Who only reached 33rd place in the US, but has so far received five platinum awards for more than 5 million copies sold. Except for Australia (4th place), however, the record did not make it into the top 10, it made it to around 11 in the UK and 12 in Canada.

The album, mainly a compilation of previously released song material, was largely positively received by fans and critics. The music critic Michael Rensen, for example, came to the following verdict: “ Who Made Who finally has real hits that are seizing up in the ear canals, as they had been sorely missed before. The brand new title track can easily take on the AC / DC evergreens of the seventies and early eighties, and on top of that there are some immortal classics from the brand Hells Bells and For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) , which one would also like to watch a second Put it on the shelf. " Götz Kühnemund later wrote the following in Rock Hard :" This compilation was released as the official soundtrack for Steven King's Maximum Overdrive , which included the two (inconsequential) instrumentals DT and Chase the Ace and the title track (a hit single) Contains three previously unpublished numbers. The classics Hells Bells , For Those About to Rock , Ride On and You Shook Me All Night Long upgrade the album a bit, but it is still not inevitable. ”He awarded eight out of ten points.
