reception
The soundtrack album has been viewed by many critics and fans as irrelevant due to the lack of new tracks. Boris Kaiser from the German magazine Rock Hard was of the opinion that the band could sell anything to people because of their high profile. He described Iron Man 2 as "another desperate cross-marketing attack starving multinationals".
Editor Christof Leim also judged in Metal Hammer that fans don't need to search for “undiscovered treasures” and that only half of the songs would appear on a best of of the band. He also compared Iron Man 2 to earlier soundtrack contributions such as the single Big Gun ( Last Action Hero , 1993) and the album Who Made Who ( Rhea M - It began without warning , 1986), for which, in contrast, new pieces were written .
On Laut.de , Eberhard Dobler also said that the album would not be worthwhile without new tracks. However, he also threw in an objection: “Who wants to deny that he likes bone-dry, groovy bangers like Back In Black or If You Want Blood (You've Got It) for the thousandth time? Exactly. ”Finally, Dobler awarded three out of five possible stars.
