Willerm Delisfort

Willerm Delisfort (born November 14, 1983 in Little Haiti , Miami ) is an American jazz musician ( piano , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Delisfort was given musical instruction at a young age by his father, who was born in Little Haiti (Miami) to Haitian parents. When he was eleven he had lessons from John McMinn, and when he was fifteen he began to study composition. His mentor was the trumpeter Melton Mustafa , who supported Willerm's work for the next five years. With his first band, The Delisfort Project , he made his first appearances, first in Florida, later nationwide, as well as a European tour with the Ladies of Jazz . As a Northern Illinois University scholarship holder , he studied with Willie Pickens from 2006 to 2009 .

Since then, Delisfort u. a. with Fareed Haque , Lauryn Hill , Kirk Whalum , Louis Bellson , Lew Soloff , Calvin Newborn , Corey Wilkes , Curtis Fuller , Jimmy Heath , David Sánchez , Jennifer Holiday , George Freeman , Red Holloway , Javon Jackson , Peter Erskine and Freddie Jackson . He also worked as a theater musician, for productions such as Dreamgirls , Ain't Misbehavin, Crowns, Aida, The Best of Broadway and Don't Bother Me I Can't Cope . In 2009 he released his debut album Freedom Riders . In the field of jazz, Tom Lord recorded twelve recording sessions between 2009 and 2018, including a. with Ernest Dawkins ( Afro Straight Delmark Records 2012), Melissa Gardiner , Dudley Owens, Shirazette Tinnin and Dezron Douglas ; he also recorded with Fareed Haque & The Flat Earth Ensemble ( Flat Planet 2008 ).
