Wim Jansen (actually: Wilhelmus Marinus Anthonius Jansen ; born October 28, 1946 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch football player. Jansen is currently working as a technical consultant at Feyenoord.
Jansen played from 1965 to 1980 at Feyenoord Rotterdam with whom he won the Dutch championships three times and the KNVB Cup once . His greatest successes at club level were winning the European Cup in 1969/70 and winning the UEFA Cup in 1973/74 . During his time at Feyenoord, he made 422 appearances in the honor division . He then went to the US to the Washington Diplomats . After only 27 games, however, he left the club to play for Ajax Amsterdam for two years . In 1982 he moved again for a year to the Washington Diplomats to end his career there.
Between 1967 and 1980, the defensive midfielder played 65 international matches for the Dutch national football team . He was twice vice world champion, first in Germany at the 1974 World Cup . In the final, he was the player whose controversial foul in the penalty area on Bernd Hölzenbein caused the penalty kick to equalize 1: 1 by Paul Breitner . The second World Cup success was then the second place at the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina . He took part in all the games in the Netherlands at both World Cups, making him and Ruud Krol the record-breaking Dutch World Cup player with 14 games until 2014 , and was then surpassed by Wesley Sneijder .
