Winkelstedt is a town and part of the town of Kalbe (Milde) in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The old market town of Winkelstedt, a round village with a church, lies between Kakerbeck and Kalbe (Milde) on the upper Milde .

The districts of Winkelstedt, Faulenhorst and Wustrewe belong to the village of Winkelstedt .

history

The horseshoe-shaped Rundlingsdorf Winkelstedt was first mentioned in 1311 as Wynkelstede . The historian Peter Rohrlach explains: "The mention of 1178 here by Zahn concerns the other Winkelstedt ." The Neuendorf monastery owned here until 1425 . The place belonged to the von Alvensleben auf Weteritz and was still called Winkelstedt am Werder in the 19th century .

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Wustrewe was incorporated.

On 25 July 1952, the community was Winkelstedt from the district Gardelegen in the county Kalbe (Milde) reclassified. On December 21, 1973 it was incorporated into the community of Kakerbeck. On July 1, 1984, the community was reestablished by hiving off the district of Winkelstedt from the community of Kakerbeck. On the same day Faulenhorst was incorporated into Winkelstedt. On August 1, 1988, Winkelstedt was reclassified from the district of Kalbe (Milde) to the district of Gardelegen .

The municipal councils of the municipalities of Kalbe (Milde) (on May 8, 2008), Altmersleben (on May 14, 2008), Güssefeld (on May 6, 2008), Kahrstedt (on May 7, 2008), Neuendorf on Damm (on May 2, 2008), Wernstedt (on May 13, 2008) and Winkelstedt (on May 13, 2008) that their communities are dissolved and united to form a new town of Kalbe (Milde) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2009.

After the implementation of the unification agreement of the previously independent municipality of Winkelstedt, Winkelstedt, Faulenhorst and Wustrewe became districts of the new town of Kalbe (Milde). For the included municipality, the local constitution was introduced according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The recorded community of Winkelstedt and future districts of Winkelstedt, Faulenhorst and Wustrewe became the locality of the new town of Kalbe (Milde). A local council with nine members including the local mayor was formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Winkelstedt.

The Evangelical parish of Winkelstedt belonged to the parish Kakerbeck and today belongs to the parish Kalbe-Kakerbeck of the parish of Salzwedel in the provost district of Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Culture and sights

church

  • The Protestant village church in Winkelstedt is a small half-timbered building donated by Valentin von Alvensleben in 1790. It is a branch church of Kakerbeck.
  • The local cemetery is located in the churchyard.

Monuments

In Winkelstedt there is a memorial for those who died in the First World War, a boulder on a natural stone plinth. Another memorial presumably commemorates those who participated in the war in 1866 and 1870/71.
