history

Since the place name Neuendorf in the Altmark occurs several times, it is uncertain which place is meant in older documents. In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 a Neuendorf is listed as Niendorpp or Nyendorp .

In 1384 the witness is named Hartwygh, pastor in Nyendorpe. The historian Peter Rohrlach writes: In the "Register zum Riedel for this Neuendorf am Damm, this assignment remains uncertain, it can also mean Neuendorf bei Klötze."

In 1421 Heyne Bockenbusch zu Stendal is enfeoffed in the dorff czu Newendorff before the damme czu Calue . This mention can be regarded as the first reliable documentary mention.

Further mentions are 1598 Niendorf for the Tham zu Calve , 1687 Niendorff vorm Dam and finally in 1804 Neuendorf am Damm (by the Calbischen Werder) .

Incorporations

On 25 July 1952, the town was the district of Stendal in the county Kalbe (Milde) reclassified. On January 1, 1988 Neuendorf was assigned to the Gardelegen district . On July 1, 1994, the community came to the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel .

  • The Protestant village church was rebuilt in 1842 with boulders. Remains of the baroque interior are still present. It is a branch church of Kremkau.
