Wolfgang Luh (artist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Luh (born March 24, 1955 in Büdingen , Hessen ) is a German artist and publisher.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1975 at the Wolfgang-Ernst-Gymnasium in Büdingen, Luh studied from 1976 at the former Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel, where he qualified as a designer in 1982 and in 1984 in the field of fine arts.

Since March 1978 Luh has lived and worked in a studio apartment that over the years has become the so-called "Museum Luh". Here is the birthplace of Germany's smallest, oldest and still growing inward installation, intimate area - temple or quiet place . Since April 1984 Luh has been the initiator and founder of the “First Kassel Gentlemen's Evening”, every Monday evening in the “Museum Luh”. From 1986 to 1992 Luh (in collaboration with Jürgen O. Olbrich ) was the publisher of the artist magazine Zeitschrift für Tiegel & Tumult (ZfT & T), which appeared every three months, had 24 issues and a circulation of 150 copies.

Since 1999 the permanent installation plenary assembly in Luh's kitchen has been part of the “Museum Luh” with over 2,600 plastic Punch and Judy puppet heads found in Europe, North, Central and South America . According to Fritz Fey , founder of the Theaterfigurenmuseum in Lübeck, this installation is the most extensive collection of its kind in Germany.

On July 9, 2000, Luh was invited by the German federal government to participate in the German delegation on the occasion of the official celebration of the Argentine National Day and the Argentine National Day at the Expo 2000 in Hanover . In May 2002 Luh was recognized and honored by the Hessian Prime Minister Roland Koch as cultural ambassador of the State of Hesse abroad. In February 2011, Luh's idea of Slow Art , in conjunction with his manifesto, became the occasion for the founding of the Hersbruck Slow Art Initiative .
