Wolfgang von Geldern
Wolfgang von Geldern (born November 4, 1944 in Dorum , Cuxhaven district ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1976 to 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1983 to 1991 Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forests .
Life and work
After graduating from high school in 1964, Wolfgang von Geldern studied law and history in Freiburg im Breisgau , Göttingen and Hanover , which he completed in 1973 with the first state examination and in 1975 with the second state examination . In 1971 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the Technical University of Hanover with the work Wilhelm Oechelhäuser as entrepreneur, economic politician, social politician and cultural politician . He was admitted to the bar in 1976 and was appointed notary in 1980 . In 1994 von Geldern joined Plambeck ContraCon AG in Cuxhaven as a member of the board ; from 1998 to 2008 he was chairman of the board of Plambeck Neue Energien AG .
Wolfgang von Geldern is married and has a daughter.
Political party
He has been a member of the CDU since 1966. Geldern initially got involved with the RCDS , whose state chairman in Lower Saxony and Bremen he was in 1967. From 1978 to 1995 he was chairman of the CDU district association of Cuxhaven and from 1979 to 1999 of the CDU district association of Stade . From 1980 he was also a member of the state board of the CDU in Lower Saxony.
MP
From 1973 to 1975 Geldern belonged to the district council of the Göttingen district . From 1976 to 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag . In 1980 he was drafted into the German Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list and otherwise always as a directly elected member of the Cuxhaven constituency . Most recently, he received 46.3% of the vote in the 1990 Bundestag election . In the 1994 federal election , he was unable to prevail against the SPD candidate Annette Faße and therefore resigned from the Bundestag.
Public offices
After the general election in 1983 , he was on 30 March 1983 as Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry in by Chancellor Helmut Kohl led government appointed. On January 18, 1991, he left the government after the 1990 Bundestag election.
Social Commitment
Wolfgang von Geldern has been President of the German Forest Protection Association (SDW) since 1992 . In this function, he was instrumental in building up SDW association structures in the new federal states of Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia as a result of German reunification . Working closely with Hans Joachim Fröhlich , von Geldern also campaigned for the realization of the German avenue road from the island of Rügen to Lake Constance . In addition, he initiated, among other things, a “Green Round Table”, a discussion forum at which a wide variety of associations and clubs can discuss important issues relating to the German forest and develop concepts for its future.
At the same time he is chairman of the board of the Wirtschaftsverband Windkraftwerke e. V. This association has set itself the task of expanding wind power.
