It is bordered by Caledonia County to the north and Lamoille County to the west . The largest are the Nichols Pond in the northeast and of this slightly south of the East Long Pond and in the west of the Greenwood Lake and the Valley Lake. Centrally located are the protected areas of the Woodbury Town Forest and the Buck Lake Wildlife Management Area.

history
Woodbury was given as a grant to Colonel Ebenezer Wood, William Lyman and six others by the Vermont Legislature on November 6, 1780, and was assigned on August 16, 1781. The land was divided into three sections, which in turn were divided into 244 plots. Each of these lots was 100 acres. The name Woodbury is said to have been given in honor of Colonel Ebenezer Wood, but there were other owners who also had Wood as part of their name. Woodbury was renamed Monroe at the request of the residents in 1838 in honor of James Monroe , but in 1843 Woodbury was renamed back to Woodbury, as the political attitude had changed in the meantime.
Woodbury was first settled by Gideon Sabin around 1795, with Joseph Carr and William West later followed by other settlers. However, only 23 people lived in Woodbury in 1800. School began in Woodbury in 1808 and the first sawmill was built in 1806. In 1818 a grist mill followed near the center of the town.
Woodbury experienced its greatest heyday between 1840 and 1850 through the mining and marketing of high quality granite. Several quarries were subsequently established, the J. Ainsworth Quarry in 1876, the Woodbury Granite Company in 1878 and the Hardwick and Woodbury Railroad reached Woodbury in 1892.
However, after the end of the mining period, the population shrank to less than 400 inhabitants. Today Woodbury has more than 900 residents.
Religions
Just under 65% of Woodbury's residents do not belong to any religious community. Woodbury has First Congregational Church and United Methodist Church congregations.
