The MansionBet World Pool Masters 2018 was a pool tournament in the 9-ball discipline , which was played from March 2-4, 2018 in the Tercentenary Sports Hall of the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar . It was the 25th edition of the invitation tournament hosted by Matchroom Sport .

After 2013, the winner was Dutch Niels Feijen for the second time , who defeated the 2014 and 2015 winner Shane van Boening 8: 4 in the final. The defending champion was the Spaniard David Alcaide , who was eliminated in the round of 16 against Karl Boyes . The Englishman then won against record winner Ralf Souquet and shared third place with last year's finalist Jayson Shaw after a semi-final defeat by Feijen .

Attendees

Among the 16 participants, 12 were previous World Pool Masters winners. Three players had to withdraw their participation shortly before the start of the tournament, including two other previous winners: Francisco Bustamante could not compete due to visa problems and was replaced by the German Joshua Filler . As a replacement for Tony Drago , who canceled due to illness, Karl Boyes was given a starting place. Chris Melling replaced the 4th placed Chinese Wu Jiaqing at short notice .
