Xabier Etxeita Gorritxategi (born October 31, 1987 in Amorebieta-Etxano ) is a Spanish football player . He has been playing for Getafe FC in the Primera División , the top Spanish division , since 2019 .

Career

society

Etxeita began his career in the youth team of SD Amorebieta , from where he moved to the B team of Athletic Bilbao in 2006 . There he played in the Segunda División B. In 2008/09 he was appointed to the first team squad. He made his debut in the Primera División on November 16, 2008 against CA Osasuna . He scored his first league goal on May 23, 2009 against Atlético Madrid . In the 1: 4 defeat he achieved the interim equalization. For the 2009/10 season he came only to a few missions, where he made his debut at European club level. The defender played through in the Europa League group game against Werder Bremen . The game ended 0: 3. In January 2010 it was awarded to Cartagena FC .

For the 2010/11 season he moved to FC Elche . In 2013 he returned to Bilbao. In July 2018 it was awarded to the SD Huesca . After his loan, he moved to Getafe FC .

National team

At the beginning of October 2015, Etxeita was nominated for the first time for the Spanish national team by coach Vicente del Bosque to replace the injured Bruno Soriano . On October 12, he made his debut in a 1-0 away win in the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine .
