Yoshi's Crafted World ( Japanese title: ヨッシークラフトワールド, Hepburn : Yosshī Kurafuto Warudo) is a Jump 'n' Run - video game , which by the game developer Good-Feel developed by Nintendo on March 29, 2019 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch has been published. It is the sequel to Yoshi's Woolly World .

Gameplay

Yoshi's Crafted World is a 2.5D jump-'n'-run in a cardboard look, the gameplay of which is heavily based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island . A unique selling point of the game, however, is that you can interact with the foreground and background and play the levels both regularly and backwards. The game also includes a two-player mode where each player controls their own Yoshi . The game can be played with both the Joy-Con and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller .

The Yoshis live on an island with the dream sun on the top. The dream sun can fulfill wishes with the help of its five dream jewels. One day, Kamek and Baby Bowser arrive on the island of the Yoshis and want to steal the dream sun. The Yoshis, Kamek, Baby Bowser and the dream sun are thrown from the island and the dream sun loses its jewels.

Kamek and Baby Bowser are looking for the dream jewels. The Yoshis want to prevent this and a Yoshi (or two Yoshis in co-op mode ) also goes on a search to find the dream jewels beforehand. Meanwhile, the rest of the Yoshis wait in the dream sun.

The game was announced on June 13, 2017 as part of a Nintendo Direct for E3 2017 (at that time still under the working title Yoshi ) for 2018. In June 2018, Nintendo announced that the game's release would be postponed to 2019. The name of the game was revealed in a Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2018 and it was announced that Yoshi's Crafted World would be released in spring 2019. In a story trailer dated January 8, 2019, Nintendo announced the release date for March 29, 2019. On March 29, 2019, Yoshi's Crafted World was released for the Nintendo Switch.

During a Nintendo Direct on February 13, 2019, Nintendo announced a demo version of the game. This was published on February 13, 2019.

Yoshi's Crafted World received mostly positive reviews from various trade magazines . The optics and the low but constant frame rate of 30 frames per second were particularly praised . The short playing time, the low level of difficulty and the fact that the co-op mode is too chaotic was often criticized . On the review website Metacritic , the game has a Metascore of 79% based on 92 reviews.

Sales figures

In Japan, Yoshi's Crafted World was sold 53,327 times in its first week of sales. During the same period, the game was sold over 1.11 million times worldwide.
