Fence castle

The Zaunburg , formerly also called Zannenburg, Tzanburg , is an abandoned castle in the Alten-Buseck district of the Buseck municipality in the Gießen district in Hesse .

The time of construction of the castle, which is only indicated by the street name "An der Zaunburg", is unknown. The castle was first mentioned in 1442 with Eckhard von Buseck , who was called Zanburg, the father of Gernand von Buseck who died before 1442. According to a sales deed for land in Alten-Buseck and meadows below the castle, it could have been owned by Bernhard and Crafft von Buseck, known as Mönch. Whether it was the common ancestral seat of the von Buseck and von Trohe families , in which all branches had their share, remains unclear.

Around 1950 the castle stable , which is now overbuilt, still showed the remains of the castle hill, the moat , wall remains and a cellar vault.
