Weissburg Castle

The Weißburg Castle is an abandoned Niederungsburg , perhaps a permanent house , today in the western part of Trohe , part of the municipality of Buseck , in the district of Gießen in Hesse .

description

The castle of the Lords of Trohe , which can no longer be precisely located , was presumably located to the east of the parcel “ bei der Weißburg” of Alten-Buseck on the Troher district called “die wyß burgk”. It is reflected in a sales deed dated October 29, 1471 as follows:

"Hen of Drahé (Trohe) and Katrina, his wife, sell the Ebberhardt Doringk (Döring) the jüngen and Margaret, his wife, their friihe heritage Eygen Huss, lifting, agker, garden, wehißen to Drahé located, the Wiiß Burgk genant , with everyone to and inngehoirde ... "

The last time the castle, now probably in ruins , was documented in 1750 when von Buseck took over the inheritance . Whether it was the ancestral castle of the Hessian Trohe or the Burgstall Trohe cannot be determined in a document.
