Books

Girl online

In 2014, Zoe Sugg's first novel "Girl Online" was published by Penguin Books . Sugg broke the book sales record among debut novels, as more than 78,109 copies were sold in the first seven days. A total of almost 350,000 copies were sold within the first year. After the book was published, doubts arose that the book was written by Zoe Sugg. The publisher Penguin Books admitted that Zoe Sugg was a ghostwriter with Siobhan Curham. The starting point of speculation, a formulation Suggs on the thank-you and greeting side of her debut novel, with which it everyone at Penguin - especially Amy Alward and Siobhan Durham City, "which at every step there for them were" - in the implementation of her first book (thanked english "I want to thank everyone at Penguin for helping me put together my first novel, especially Amy Alward and Siobhan Curham, who were with me every step of the way." ). While Alward has a comparatively clear job as an editor, Curham's role was initially unclear. In a blog post in the summer of 2014, which was later deleted, Curham outlined the requirements for a ghostwriting task (a novel of around 80,000 words within six weeks) that, according to the media, roughly correlates with the announcement of the book. Due to the reactions online and in the media, Sugg withdrew from the Internet for a few days after the collaboration with Curham became known.

Girl Online: On Tour

Her second novel "Girl Online: On Tour" was published in October 2015. Based on the negative experiences with her first work, she wrote the sequel without the help of a ghostwriter. The publication was accompanied by a sold out reading tour.

Girl Online: Going Solo

In November 2016 her third novel "Girl Online: Going Solo" was published.

Television appearances

In June 2014, Sugg was a guest on the British talk show Loose Women . She also appeared on the morning show This Morning with Philipp and Holly a month later to talk about her panic attacks . criticism

That all changed at the end of 2017 when she launched an Advent calendar priced at GBP 50, which at first found little favor with parents due to the quality of the content and was then reduced by 50% in price by the drugstore chain Boots so as not to collapse completely allow. In addition, in the context of this process, some of their old Twitter posts from 2010 to 2012 were unearthed. a. comments on homosexual men and obese women that commentators perceive as "offensive".
