Álvaro Vázquez García (mostly just Álvaro , more rarely Álvaro Vázquez ; born April 27, 1991 in Badalona , Catalonia ) is a Spanish football player in the position of a striker . He has been under contract with Sporting Gijón since 2019 .

Career

Career start at home

Álvaro Vázquez García, who was born in the industrial city of Badalona, part of the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona, began his active career as a football player in the youth team of the local amateur club CF Trajana in nearby Sant Adrià de Besòs . After joining the club in 1996, he first trained as a soccer player in his hometown before moving to the training club CF Damm in Nou Barris , a district of Barcelona. After a few years in the youth team there, he made the leap to the youth department of Espanyol Barcelona in 2005 . There he was initially active with Cadete B , where he scored 35 goals in his first season. Only one season later he was successful at Cadete A with 34 goals before he made the leap into the club's B youth team for the following season, for which he finally contributed 23 goals in his first season.
