Andre Davis, a NYPD detective , faced an investigation into multiple firearms use. Now he is hunting a police murderer and his accomplice. During his investigation, he uncovered a serious corruption case: Several colleagues at a police station are in contact with drug dealers. During the manhunt, Manhattan is completely closed for the first time in its history. The authorities are closing all 21 bridges to prevent the murderers from escaping.

The shooting took place from September 24, 2018 to November 24, 2018. Most of the shooting took place in Philadelphia, at the Brasil Nightclub on Chestnut Street, Kissin Fresh Meats on Richmond Street, Tinto on 20th Street, AKA University City and the SEPTA Fern Rock Transportation Station, called Chinatown Station. Further recordings were made in the Sun Center Studios in Aston.
The score was composed by Alex Belcher and Henry Jackman . The soundtrack album, which includes 22 pieces of music, was released by Sony Classical on November 15, 2019.
The first trailer was presented in April 2019, another at the end of October 2019. The cinema release in Germany was on February 6, 2020, in the USA on November 22, 2019.

Reviews and grossing results
Overall, the film received mixed feedback from the critics.
Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter describes the film as 104 minutes of nocturnal city crime thriller that is pumped up with a borderline absurd amount of almost non-stop violence.
Nick De Semlyen of Empire Magazine, on the other hand, sees 21 Bridges as "a refreshing break from special effects- laden spectacles and a throwback to the cheap cop thrillers of yesteryear, if not strong enough to ensure that Boseman's fair cop gets his own franchise " . The film has something of a missing Tony Scott - Denzel Washington vehicle, even if it is more reminiscent of The Abduction of the Pelham 123 Subway in terms of quality and story plot than of Crimson Tide .
Sidney Schering writes in his review that the action thriller is unfortunately simply not good, but only takes generic material out of its solid basic idea. The central problem of 21 Bridges is the script by Adam Mervis and Matthew Michael Carnahan, which thinks little of coherent character drawing or of pulling through its thematic strands.
The budget of around 33 million US dollars is offset by worldwide income of 47.1 million US dollars.
