Sornzig, former Marienthal monastery

In the 14th century, the Burgraves of Leisnig owned indulgences, as a fiefdom of the Margraves of Meissen. In 1334 Johannes de Cythow and his wife exchanged two hooves in indulgence for three hooves in Nicollschwitz. Thereupon Bgf. Albero von Leisnig the monastery book the two hooves. These two hooves gave a half-shock Prague groschen and a chicken as tenth to Martini. In 1548 the monastery book of inheritance lists "32 gr and 1 old hen of 1 man, he doesn't know what". It was from 1334. Otherwise indulgences belonged to the Colditz office.

Districts of Ablaß were Zschannewitz (incorporated in 1936), Grauschwitz and Querbitzsch (incorporated in 1973). In 1993 Ablaß merged with Glossen and Kemmlitz to form the new municipality of Ablaß, which in 1994 merged with the municipality of Sornzig to form the new municipality of Sornzig-Ablaß.
