Adolf Friedrich Wilhelm Ramm , von Ramm since 1854 (born November 16, 1815 in Berlin , † March 16, 1883 in Strasbourg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and inspector of the 4th artillery inspection.

Life

Adolf was a son of the artillery officer August Leopold Ramm (* 1765) and his wife Luise Henriette, née Lehmann (* 1782). His brother Karl (1803-1865) became a Prussian major general .

Military career

Ramm attended grammar school in Torgau and, after graduating from high school, joined the Guard Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on December 11, 1833 . For further training, he completed the United Artillery and Engineering School from October 1834 to July 1836 and from October 1837 to September 1838 . In the meantime he became an extra-budget second lieutenant and after his successful graduation was appointed an artillery officer. From April 1841 until his transfer to the 7th Artillery Brigade in mid-February 1847, he was a department adjutant. In the same capacity he was appointed adjutant of this brigade on October 1, 1847 and rose to prime lieutenant a year later . During the campaign against Denmark , Ramm was adjutant of the mobile 7th Artillery Brigade. He was promoted to captain on December 13, 1852 and, together with his brother Karl, was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on September 6, 1854 .

From mid-December 1854 to mid-June 1855, Ramm was in command of the newly formed 5th six-pound battery and then chief of the 1st mounted battery of the 7th Artillery Regiment. He came to the 4th Artillery Inspection on May 6, 1856 as an adjutant. He was then transferred to the 5th Artillery Regiment on July 8, 1858 with a patent on June 22, 1852 as chief of the 3rd mounted battery . This was followed by a promotion to major on June 14, 1859, and a use in the 2nd Artillery Regiment . On July 2, 1859, Ramm became commander of the III. Division and on July 25, 1859 the regiment aggregated . On March 8, 1860 he was again commander of the III. Department appointed as commander before the on May 10, 1861 Train of the IV. Corps took over. On March 15, 1864, Ramm received command of the III. Division of the 7th Artillery Brigade and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 25, 1864 . During the German War in 1866 he acted as commander of the reserve artillery of III. Army Corps and took part in the battles of Münchengrätz and Königgrätz . He was promoted to Colonel on September 20, 1866 and for his work with the Crown Order III. Excellent with swords. Ramm was appointed commander of the 6th Artillery Brigade in Breslau on May 13, 1869, with a position à la suite of his regiment . After the Peace of Frankfurt he was commander of the 15th artillery brigade in Strasbourg from June 27, 1871 to October 24, 1872 , was then transferred to the officers of the army and on November 30, 1872 to the commander of the 8th artillery brigade.
