Alanna Stephanie Kennedy (born January 21, 1995 in Campbelltown , New South Wales ) is an Australian soccer player who has played in the Australian national team since 2012 . In Australia, she won the Australian Championship in 2013 and 2019 with Sydney FC and in 2018 with Melbourne City FC .
Career
society
The 1.76 m tall defensive player, who was born in the suburbs of Sydney , started in the W-League with Sydney FC in 2011 and made three appearances in her first season as a 15-year-old. At the end of the season, Sydney was number 1 in the table and reached the Grand Final against long-term rivals Brisbane Roar . In the final, which was lost with 1: 2, she only sat on the bench. She then moved to Newcastle United Jets and has already made nine appearances. The Jets only finished fifth at the end of the season and missed the playoffs. Kennedy then returned to Sydney and reached the Grand Final with their new old club, this time against Melbourne Victory and could win. Again she moved to the club, this time to city rivals Western Sydney Wanderers , with whom she only reached seventh place in the league round. After four seasons on the east coast, she has now moved to the west coast to Perth Glory . She also reached the Grand Final with Perth, but lost it to the capital club Canberra United FC .
After another season at Sydney FC, Kennedy left Australia for the first time in her career and switched to the Western New York Flash for the 2016 season . With these she won the championship in the NWSL for the first time in team history . After the end of the NWSL season, she returned to Australia, first back to Sydney FC, for the 2017/18 season to Melbourne City FC and then again to Sydney FC. With both clubs she was able to win the championship.
National team
Kennedy wore the Young Matildas jersey for the first time in 2008 when he was 13. The Australian juniors could not qualify for any FIFA tournament during this time. On June 24, 2012, she made her international debut for the senior team in a friendly against New Zealand .
Until the 2014 Asian women's soccer championship , for which she was also nominated, she made 11 more international matches. In the championship, she was used in two group games and the final against Japan , in which Australia could not defend the title. By making it to the semi-finals, Australia had already qualified for the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
In March 2015, she took part with Australia in the Cyprus Cup 2015 , where she started in the 1-0 win against the Netherlands, 0-3 against England and 6-2 in the game for fifth place against the Czech Republic. On May 12, 2015 she was nominated for the 2015 Australian World Cup squad .
At the qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games , she scored her first international goal on March 2, 2016 in a 9-0 win over Vietnam .
It was used in all games of the 2018 Asian Women's Cup . She was in the starting line-up four times and came on as a substitute for the game against South Korea . With a win against Vietnam , the Australians reached the semi-finals and thus qualified for the 2019 World Cup. In the semifinals against Thailand , she scored the goal in the first minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2, which made possible the subsequent goalless extra time and the subsequent penalty shoot-out . The final against Japan was lost like four years earlier. She was nominated for the World Cup on May 14, 2019. It was used in the first game against Italy , which was lost 2-1 by a goal in the fifth minute of added time. With victories against Brazil and Jamaica, however, they reached the second round in the group. Here they met former world champion Norway. Since it was 1: 1 after 90 minutes, it was extended. In this she received the red card in the 104th minute after an emergency brake . Since no goals were scored in extra time, the Australians lost 4-1 on penalties.
In January 2020 she was nominated for the Olympic qualification tournament in February. Here she cannot be used in the first game due to the red card.
