society

In 2004, Krieger played for Penn State University , scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists in 23 games. As she was the only player on her team to play all games from the start, she was named Big Ten Rookie of the Year .

For the 2007/08 season , Krieger and her compatriot Gina Lewandowski were signed by 1. FFC Frankfurt , where they were initially used in the World Cup bridging tournament . After the league was resumed on October 7, 2007 with the 3rd match day, she was mostly in the starting line-up of 1. FFC Frankfurt. In the top game against FCR 2001 Duisburg on February 24, 2008, she scored her first Bundesliga goal in the 73rd minute with a shot from distance to make it 4-0. In March 2011, she terminated her contract in Frankfurt in order to prepare for the World Cup in Germany with the national team . On August 5, 2011, she signed a new two-year contract with 1. FFC Frankfurt. At the summer tournament of the Theo Zwanziger Foundation on August 5, 2012, she was in the Frankfurt squad for the first time since her cruciate ligament injury. On December 31, 2012, she terminated her contract, which ran until 2013, in order to go back to the USA.

In the 2013 season, Krieger plays in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League - the highest US professional league in women's football - for Washington Spirit . After the end of the 2013 NWSL season, she signed a loan contract with the Swedish club Tyresö FF until November 30, 2013, and made her debut there on August 21.

For the 2017 NWSL season, Krieger switched to the Orlando Pride franchise .

National team

Warriors (No. 11) with the US national team before the game against England on February 13, 2015

At the annual four-nation tournament in the People's Republic of China , Krieger made her debut in the US national team against Canada on January 16, 2008 and was also used against Finland . But it stayed with the two games for the time being. It was not until 2010 that she was back in the squad for the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup and was also used in the two playoff games against Italy . In 2011 she won the Algarve Cup with the USA and was appointed to the squad for the 2011 World Cup . She was in the starting line-up in all games and reached the final against Japan with her team , marking the decisive fifth goal in the penalty shoot-out of the quarter-finals against Brazil . In the final against Japan - which the US girls lost on penalties - she was shot unluckily by her teammate Rachel Buehler when the Japanese equalized 1-1 , so that the ball jumped at the feet of Aya Miyama , who consistently took advantage of this opportunity. It was not used in the penalty shoot-out.

On January 20, 2012, during the Olympic qualification in a 14-0 record win against the Dominican Republic , Krieger tore a cruciate and medial ligament in his right knee.

After a break of more than a year, Krieger returned to the game against Scotland on February 9, 2013 .

On March 8, 2013, Krieger scored her first international goal in a 5-0 win against China in the Algarve Cup .

Krieger was also named to the US squad for the 2015 World Cup . She was used in all seven games and was only substituted in the last sixteen against Colombia in the closing stages. She became world champion for the first time by beating Japan in the final.

Krieger was also part of the squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifier , which the United States won, and was featured in the three group matches. At the Olympic Games, she was used in the group games against France and Colombia .

After playing against Russia on April 6, 2017 , she was nominated for the Tournament of Nations 2017 , but not used there and then nominated for two games for the first time in April 2019. It was then used again for the first time after a two-year break in the 6-0 win against Belgium on April 7th. On May 1st, she was also nominated for the 2019 World Cup .

On May 16, 2019, she was substituted on for her 100th international match in a 5-0 win against New Zealand . It was used in three games at the 2019 World Cup . In the second group game against Chile - when most of the regular players were not used - she played over 90 minutes. In the semifinals against England she was substituted on in the 87th minute for Kelley O'Hara , who was then injured in the final, so that Krieger came on for her in the second half. This makes her one of the six players - also from the US team Tobin Heath , Carli Lloyd , Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe as well as the German Birgit Prinz - who have made it to three World Cup finals and has the most final minutes of these with 255 minutes.

Personal

In 2006, Krieger suffered from breathing difficulties and heart attacks as a result of a pulmonary embolism . Her condition was very critical and she barely survived the disease. After she was discharged from the clinic, she had to give up physical activity for six months.

In September 2018, Krieger got engaged to teammate Ashlyn Harris , with whom she had been together for ten years. On December 28, 2019, the two married in Miami with their family and close friends .
