Albert Preisegott Sigismund Wilhelm von Obernitz (born March 16, 1804 in Türkendorf , † August 1, 1879 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Albert came from the Thuringian - Eastern noble family von Obernitz . He was the son of Friedrich von Obernitz (1766-1818) and his wife Anna, née von Langen (1767-1851). His father was a Prussian major a. D. , Herr auf Türkendorf and state elder of the Spremberg district.

Military career

Obernitz joined the 26th Infantry Regiment (1st Magdeburg) of the Prussian Army in 1822, was appointed Portepeefähnrich on December 17, 1822 and promoted to Second Lieutenant on June 18, 1824 . In 1829/30 he was assigned to the training infantry battalion . This was followed by a use as an adjutant battalion . On March 11, 1836, Obernitz became a first lieutenant and with his promotion to captain on December 10, 1845, he was appointed company commander in the 26th Infantry Regiment in Magdeburg . With this regiment Obernitz was involved in the battle near Michelbach in 1849 during the suppression of the Baden Revolution . From December 6, 1851 to February 6, 1856 he was major in command of the 1st Battalion of the 27th Landwehr Regiment. Obernitz then acted as commander of the fusilier battalion in the 31st Infantry Regiment in Erfurt, was commissioned on April 9, 1857, Lieutenant Colonel and on May 19, 1859 with the command of the Brandenburg Fusilier Regiment No. 35 in Luxembourg . With the promotion to colonel on May 31, 1859 appointed commander of this regiment, Obernitz was on May 25, 1860 with the Red Eagle Order III. Excellent class with swords on rings. He took his leave on August 9, 1862, being given the character of major general with pension . The following year, Obernitz was on March 17 with his board for disposition made.

On the occasion of the German War in 1866, Obernitz was commander of the 23rd Infantry Brigade for the duration of the mobile relationship. He was also active again in the war against France in 1870/71 and acted from July 18, 1870 to June 23, 1871 as commander of the 16th Infantry Brigade.

In recognition of his many years of service, Obernitz received the Order of the Crown, 2nd class, on January 18, 1872 .

family

Obernitz married Anna Mathilde Klara von Plötz (1823-1882) on October 22, 1843 in Halle (Saale) . The following children were born from the marriage:
