The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is the football association of the Republic of India . The association was founded on June 23, 1937 in Shimla at a meeting of representatives of six football associations. Founding members were the football associations of West Bengal , the then United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand ), Bihars , Delhis , Mysores , the Army Sports Control Board, Northwest India and the Presidency of Bombay . The AIFF currently consists of 33 state associations from all over India.
The AIFF organizes several championships in India, including the I-League and, until 2007, its predecessor the National Football League and the Federation Cup . The AIFF also organizes the men's and women's national teams and their youth teams .
One year after India gained independence, AIFF became a member of the world association FIFA . 1954 was one of the founding members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) . At the regional level, the association is a member of the South Asian Football Federation .
