The Syrian Arab Football Association ( Arabic الاتحاد العربي السوري لكرة القدم, DMG al-ittiḥād al-ʿarabī as-sūrī li-kurat al-qadam ) was founded in 1936 and joined the World Football Association ( FIFA ) in 1937 . This makes the association one of the oldest in Asia. In 1969 he was accepted into the Asian Football Association (AFC) after the Syrians had already played several games as part of qualifying for the World Cup in the 1950s .

The Syrian Football Association currently has around 120 clubs with a total of 25,000 players, 425 referees and 1,500 coaches.

The association organizes the Syrian Professional League and the Cup of the Republic .
