history
Altenburschla was first mentioned in a document in 813. In the wars of modern times, the place was repeatedly occupied and plundered by troops moving through due to its border location.
On April 1, 1972, Altenburschla was incorporated into the city of Wanfried. Due to the inner-German demarcation after the Second World War , the place was within the border area until 1990 .
politics
The mayor of Altenburschla is Ulrich Flender.
Townscape
The center of Altenburschla consists of well-preserved historical half-timbered houses . The village green is surrounded by a church, rectory, community tavern, village community center with kindergarten and guest house.
Between 1959 and 1973 the place was awarded the gold and silver medal as state and national winner in the competition " Our village should be more beautiful ".
In the village, near the historic Anger, the Premiumweg 12 Mainzer Köpfe starts, it leads through the Lehntal up to Kimm's Ruh and back down into the village.
church
The evangelical church goes into parts of their buildings to the period before the introduction of the Reformation in the land county Hessen in 1526 and perhaps back already to the year 1362nd The year 1564 on a corner stone in the choir tower names the year in which the tower was added to the existing nave. The church was badly damaged in the Thirty Years' War in 1637 , and it was not renovated until 1752-1774. The superstructure was built in half-timbered construction and the tower also received the two half- timbered floors. The third, slated-up floor of the tower with the lantern cover dates from 1825. The organ is believed to have been made by Johann Wilhelm Schmerbach the Elder .
Anger
The Anger in the center of the village near the churchyard is considered a particularly beautiful linden square. In the round walling there is a tree that, without any documentary confirmation, is said to have been planted in 1825 when the complex was redesigned. The three other linden trees are replanted from a later period. As a former place of court and assembly, the Anger is a protected cultural monument for historical reasons . Parts of the original wall and an old stone table with three benches remain from the former court.
