Amar Tomar Kolkata ( Atlético de Kolkata until 2017 ), mostly just ATK , is an Indian soccer franchise from Calcutta . The team plays in the Indian Super League , one of the two highest leagues in the country.

history

At the beginning of 2014 it was announced that the All India Football Federation, in cooperation with the companies Reliance and the International Management Group, was establishing a new football league in India. On April 13, 2014, Sourav Ganguly , Harshavardhan Neotia , Sanjiv Goenka , Utsav Parekh and the Spanish club Atlético Madrid were awarded the contract to found a soccer team in Calcutta.

Atlético de Kolkata was officially founded on May 7, 2014. On July 4, 2014, Borja Fernández, the first player was committed. Four days later, Antonio López Habas, the franchise's first coach, was found. Luis García was also committed on July 8, 2014 and the team's coat of arms was presented.

Yuba Bharati Krirangan

The 68,000 Yuba Bharati Krirangan or Salt Lake Stadium is the home ground of Atlético. The I-League teams Mohun Bagan AC , Kingfisher East Bengal , Mohammedan Sporting Club and Prayag United also play their home games here. The sports facility is owned by the West Bengal government .
