Location, ecology

The Ammeloer Venn is north of Ammeloe in the Münsterland district of Borken . It is a former raised bog with largely open bog areas. The moorland continues to the north on Dutch territory. In the valleys of the Venn you can find heather plants and peat moss. The water frog is also native here.

tourism

The Ammeloer Venn is connected to the NRW cycling network (Wabe 55) and is on the cross-border cycling route 8-er de grens . Junction 79 and thus the connection to the Dutch junction system is east of the nature reserve directly on the Dutch-German border.

A little further to the east are the two nature reserves Lüntener Wald and Lüntener Fischteiche .

West of the Ammeloer Venn, where the border with the Netherlands forms a corner, is the boundary stone no. 1 , which was set in 1773 in connection with the Burlo Convention .
