Amphoe Lam Sonthi ( Thai : อำเภอ ลำ สนธิ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the east of Lop Buri Province . Lop Buri Province is located in the central region of Thailand .

geography

The name Lam Sonthi comes from the Maenam Sonthi (Sonthi River) , which has its source in the Sap Langka Game Reserve, the last contiguous forest area in Lop Buri. The wildlife sanctuary is located in Tambon Kud Ta Phet in the far north of the county.

Neighboring Amphoe are seen from the north: the Amphoe Si Thep and Wichian Buri of the Phetchabun Province , the Amphoe Thep Sathit of the Province of Chaiyaphum , the Amphoe Thepharak , Dan Khun Thot and Sikhio of the Province of Nakhon Ratchasima , the Amphoe Muak Lek of the Saraburi Province and the Amphoe Tha Luang and Amphoe Chai Badan of Lop Buri.

The east of the district is formed by the Phang Hoei mountain range, while the border in the northwest runs over the Luak mountain range. Both mountain ranges are part of the Phetchabun Mountains .

history

Lam Sonthi was initially set up on April 1, 1989 as a "branch circle" (King Amphoe) by splitting off five tambon from the Chai Badan district. On December 5, 1996, Lam Sonthi was granted full amphoe status. The sixth tambon Khao Noi was established in 1994.
