Amphoe Mueang Roi Et ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง ร้อยเอ็ด ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) in the Province of Roi Et . The province of Roi Et is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

The capital of the province of Roi Et is also called Roi Et .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from north): the Amphoe Changhan , Chiang Khwan , Thawat Buri , At Samat , Chaturaphak Phiman and Si Somdet of the province of Roi Et, and Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham of the province of Maha Sarakham .

history

Mueang Roi Et is an ancient city. The area around the city was made an amphoe in 1908. In 1913 it was renamed from Pachin Roi Et to Mueang Roi Et.
