Amphoe Wiang Kao ( Thai : อำเภอ เวียง เก่า ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Khon Kaen . The province of Khon Kaen is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Neighboring counties (clockwise from north): Nong Na Kham , Phu Wiang , Chum Phae and Si Chomphu districts . All Amphoe are in Khon Kaen Province.

history

Wiang Kao was initially set up as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) on May 1, 2006 by separating three tambon from Phu Wiang Amphoe .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

The district of Wiang Kao is divided into three tambon ("subdistricts" or "municipalities"), which are further subdivided into 36 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There is one municipality with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Nai Mueang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ใน เมือง ), consisting of the entire tambon Nai Mueang.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Mueang Kao Phatthana (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล เมือง เก่า พัฒนา )
  • Khao Noi (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล เขา น้อย )
