Amphoe Waeng Noi ( Thai : อำเภอ แวงน้อย ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Khon Kaen . The province of Khon Kaen is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Waeng Yai and Phon in the province of Khon Kaen, the Amphoe Bua Lai , Bua Yai and Kaeng Sanam Nang the province of Nakhon Ratchasima , and Amphoe Khon Sawan of Chaiyaphum province .

history

Waeng Noi was initially set up on June 1, 1971 as a “branch circle” ( King Amphoe ) by separating six tambon from the Amphoe Phon . On August 21, 1975, it was promoted to Amphoe.

Waeng Noi County is divided into six tambon ("subdistricts" or "parishes"), which are further subdivided into 74 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Kan Lueang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ก้านเหลือง ), consisting of the entire tambon Kan Lueang.
  • Waeng Noi (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แวงน้อย ), consisting of parts of the tambon Waeng Noi.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Waeng Noi (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แวงน้อย )
  • Tha Nang Naeo (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล ท่า นาง แนว )
  • Lahan Na (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ละหาน นา )
  • Tha Wat (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ท่า วัด )
  • Thang Khwang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ทาง ขวาง )
