Amphoe Waeng Yai ( Thai : อำเภอ แวงใหญ่ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Khon Kaen Province . The province of Khon Kaen is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring counties (clockwise from north): the Amphoe Khok Pho Chai , Chonnabot , Phon and Waeng Noi in the province of Khon Kaen, and Amphoe Khon Sawan in the province of Chaiyaphum .

history

Waeng Yai was initially set up as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) on January 3, 1977 , by separating the three tambon Khon Chim, Non Thong and Mai Na Phiang from the Amphoe Phon . On May 26, 1980, it was promoted to Amphoe.

There is one municipality with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Waeng Yai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แวงใหญ่ ), consisting of the entire tambon Waeng Yai.
