The district court Steinau (until 1867 Judicial Office Steinau ) was a court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1822 to 1968, as a branch until 1975, with its seat in Steinau an der Strasse .

history

By the organizational edict of June 29, 1821, administration and justice were separated in the Electorate of Hesse . Justice offices and administrative districts were set up for jurisdiction in the first instance . The Steinau Justice Office was formed from the previous office of Steinau and Schlüchtern , the courts of Brandenstein and Ramholz from the previous office of Altengronau and the towns of Herolz , Sannerz and Weiperz from the previous office of Salmünster , while the administrative functions for the area referred to were transferred to the Schlüchtern district over. The district of the newly established judicial office therefore consisted of

On January 15, 1832, the Schlüchtern assistant office, consisting of the towns Schlüchtern, Elm, Gundhelm, Herolz, Hutten, Oberkalbach, Sannerz and Weiperz, was raised to an independent judicial office. On January 1, 1850, the patrimonial court district of Ramholz with the towns of Hinkelhof, Ramholz and Vollmerz as well as the towns of Breitenbach, Klosterhöfe, Hintersteinau, Reinhards and Wallroth went to the Schlüchtern Justice Office , while the village of Marborn , which had previously belonged to the Salmünster Justice Office , went to the Steinau Justice Office.

As a result of the annexation of the Electorate of Hesse by Prussia in the German War in 1866, the court system there was fundamentally reorganized. The previous judicial offices, higher courts and the higher court of appeal in Cassel have been repealed and replaced by local courts in the first, district courts in the second and an appeal court in the third instance. On September 1, 1867, the previous judicial office became the Steinau District Court.

While this district court initially belonged to the district of the Hanau District Court , when the Courts Constitution Act came into force on October 1, 1879, it changed to the district of the Hanau District Court, which replaced the District Court . As before, the district of the Steinau District Court itself consisted of the town of Steinau and the communities of Ahlersbach, Bellings, Hohenzell, Kressenbach, Marborn, Marjoss, Niederzell and Seidenroth.

On July 1, 1957, the community of Ahlersbach had to be handed over to the Schlüchtern District Court . On July 1, 1968, the district court Steinau was repealed, which from then on only functioned as a branch of the district court Schlüchtern. On November 1, 1975, this branch was also closed.
