André da Silva ( André Domingos da Silva ; born November 26, 1972 in Santo André ) is a Brazilian sprinter and four-time Olympian.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​he started in the 100-meter run , but was eliminated in the preliminary round. Four years later, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he reached the second round. However, he was much more successful there with the Brazilian 4 x 100 meter relay . As a final runner, he won the bronze medal behind the teams from Canada and the United States in 38.41 s together with Arnaldo da Silva , Robson da Silva and Édson Ribeiro .

1999 was the most successful season of his career as a single starter. He was South American champion over 100 m in Bogotá and won the Universiade in Palma . He also won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the World Championships in Seville . He and Raphael de Oliveira , Claudinei da Silva and Édson Ribeiro set a South American record with 38.05 s.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he competed in the 200-meter run , but did not get beyond the preliminary round. With the season, however, he was even more successful than four years earlier. Together with Vicente de Lima , Édson Ribeiro and Claudinei da Silva, he won the silver medal in 37.90 s, beaten only by the US relay.

He also managed to improve from third to second place with the relay at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis. With the exception of Cláudio Roberto Souza instead of Claudinei da Silva with the same line-up as in Sydney, the Brazilians again won the silver medal behind the US relay in 38.26 seconds. At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo that same year , André da Silva took third place over 200 m.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was unable to build on his earlier successes. The Brazilian season only reached eighth place this time. In the 100-meter run, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

In addition, he was a total of five times Brazilian champion, four times in the 200-meter run (1997, 2001, 2003-2004) and once in the 100-meter run (1997).

André da Silva is 1.87 m tall and has a competition weight of 76 kg.
