André Grein (born January 22, 1973 in Krefeld ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing for the Mosquitos Essen from the Oberliga West since the 2011/12 season . Earlier career stations included the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League . In addition, he completed seven international matches for the German junior national team .

Career

Grein began his career in the Krefelder EV youth team , where he played for the junior team between 1989 and 1991. During the 1990/91 season he was called up to the professional team, for which he initially completed 31 games and scored an assist . In 1993 he was also nominated for the German junior national team, with which he took part in the World Cup in Sweden in the same year . There he was able to secure relegation with the German team. Grein was used in seven games and scored five points scorer. In the 1994/95 season , the left shooter played with the KEV in the then newly founded German Ice Hockey League. At the end of the season he reached the play-off semi-finals with his team, where they lost 2: 3 games against EV Landshut in a Best of Five series . In four years in the DEL he had 170 games and 42 scorer points.

During the 1997/98 season André Grein left his home club and joined the Grefrather EC from the 1st League North . There he ended the current season and was one of the top scorers of his team with 36 points in 37 games. He spent the following playing year with the Harzer Wölfen , before joining EV Duisburg in the summer of 1999 , which was then active in the major league . At the EVD he was one of the top performers and was also the top scorer of his team. In his first year he played 57 games in which he scored 81 times. Another convincing season followed, until the Eisbären Regensburg signed him from the second highest German division, the 2nd Bundesliga. The then 28-year-old only stayed one season with the Eisbären and returned to EV Duisburg, which was now part of the 2nd Bundesliga.

In Duisburg Grein was unable to build on his good performance and changed employers again during the 2003/04 season . This time the people in charge of the Dresdner Eislöwen were able to convince him of a commitment in the Oberliga. There he completed only 20 league games and joined league rivals Blue Lions Leipzig for the 2004/05 season , for which he was also only on the ice for one season. In 36 games he was able to achieve 26 scorer points for the Blue Lions. In the summer of 2005 he moved one league lower, to the regional league , to Neusser EV . At NEV he was one of the top strikers in the league and was therefore recommended for a renewed engagement with a higher-class club. In the following two years André Grein was in the squad of four different clubs, including the Revierlöwen Oberhausen , the Ratinger Ice Aliens , the Moskitos Essen and the Rostocker EC .

After not renewing his contract in Rostock, he returned to Neusser EV, for whom he had already played in 2005. On November 19, 2008, the now 35-year-old separated from the NEV for personal reasons and switched to league rivals Moskitos Essen. With the mosquitoes he won the regional league championship in the 2009/10 season . He then moved to the top division Herner EV for one season , before signing again with Moskitos Essen in the summer of 2011.
