Angfurten in the Oberbergischer Kreis is one of 51 localities in the city of Wiehl in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Location and description
The place is on the state road L 148 and is about 5 km east of the city center of Wiehl as the crow flies. Angfurten is located south of the federal highway 4 .
history
Angfurten was first mentioned in a document in 1467, namely in a document in which “Gerlach von Antforden is mentioned as a witness when the Bergisch border around the property of Eckenhagen (...)”.
The spelling of the first mention was Antforden .
The name Angfurten is derived from the old German terms Anger (property or pasture) and Furt (shallow, passable point of a stream).
In 1575, the place is recorded as Anelforten on the Arnold Mercator map .
Another mention was made in 1580. In the fodder oat labels of the Homburg rulership, 2 Wittgenstein and 8 Bergische subjects are counted as taxable persons in Antferden .
Attractions
In the nationwide competition “Our village should become more beautiful”, Angfurten has received several awards in recent years. In Angfurten there is the field mill , which was rebuilt after a fire in 1904.
