Anglo-Welsh Cup 2016/17
The 2016/17 Anglo-Welsh Cup was the 45th edition of the Anglo-Welsh Cup , one of the most important rugby union cup competitions in Great Britain. 16 teams from England and Wales were involved. The competition started on November 4th, 2016, with the final taking place on March 19th, 2016 at The Stoop in London .
Attendees
The following teams were eligible to participate:
- the 12 teams of the English Premiership in England
- the 4 teams of the Pro12 from Wales
mode
There were four groups with four teams each. Two groups were connected, whereby the four teams from one group did not play against each other, but met the four teams from the other group. The four group winners then met in two semi-finals. The cup winner was determined in the final. In the group stage, the teams received:
- four points for a win
- two points for a tie
- a bonus point for four or more attempts
- a bonus point for a loss of seven or less points
