Jan Ehrhardt from the website laut.de rated anthracite with four out of a possible five points. The album is "absolutely worth listening to" and "the final emancipation from the plastic-palm hype". It carries “Camora's very personal signature” and is “his vision of modern urban music”. The artist “obviously finally found and perfected his own style”.
On rappers.in , anthracite was rated only 2.5 out of a possible six points. RAF Camora allows too many “ideas to flow unfiltered into his music”, “which in the end creates a tough, dragging and monotonous sound”. The album is a "half-hearted music Frankenstein patched together, which when trying to be everything at the same time is nothing so real anymore".
Alexander Barbian from rap.de rated the album positively. Anthracite is "the crowning glory of the rocky and multifaceted journey of a thoroughbred musician" and a work "on which almost every track has hit potential".
Steffen Bauer from MZEE wrote that although it is not "a total failure," RAF Camora has "heard much more inspired music."
laut.de listed Anthracite at number 19 of the best rap albums of 2017.
At the 2018 Echo Awards , RAF Camora was nominated nationally for the album in the Hip-Hop / Urban category.
