Anton Wild Goose Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian Industry Literature Prize - Anton Wildgans is a literature prize that was founded in 1962 by the Austrian Federation of Industrialists . The prize is endowed with 15,000 euros (up to 2002 with 7,500 euros, up to 2010 10,000 euros) and is awarded by an independent jury to a writer of the younger or middle generation with Austrian citizenship, "whose work can still be expected to be crowned", awarded.

The award is dedicated to Anton Wildgans , "who, like few others, embodied the Austrian in its best sense" (quotations from the self-portrayal of the Federation of Industrialists). Since 2010, the "Anton Wildgans Prize" has been renamed the "Literature Prize of Austrian Industry - Anton Wildgans".

In 1990 there was no award, instead works by previous award winners were purchased and given away to university institutes for German studies in countries in Eastern and Southeastern Europe in agreement with the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
