The Aprilia RS-GP is a racing motorcycle that was developed by Aprilia and has been used in the MotoGP class, the highest prototype category of the FIM - Motorcycle Road World Championship , since 2015 .

technology

2015 model

The motorcycle is based on the Aprilia ART project ( A prilia R acing T eam). The ART machine, in turn, is based on the Aprilia RSV4 and was used in the CRT category. To be competitive, some elements have been adjusted. Pneumatic valves are used, among other things . The cylinders have a bore of 81 mm instead of 78 mm on the RSV4.
The front telescopic fork is made of magnesium and, like the swingarm , works with Öhlins damping elements . The so-called “seamless gear” has been in use
since the Italian Grand Prix ( 2015 ) in Mugello . This makes it possible to change gears without interrupting traction.

2016 model

The motorcycle for the 2016 season is a completely new design and is no longer based on the Aprilia RSV4. The power of the new V4 engine is given as more than 250 hp. In addition, a counter-rotating crankshaft is used. It turns in the opposite direction to the wheels of the vehicle. In theory, so the bike will be handy because the centrifugal forces partially cancel. In addition, the tendency to a so-called wheelie is reduced .
