The Arena México is a sports hall in Mexico City . It was built in 1956 and seats 16,236 spectators in three tiers. The hall mainly serves as a venue for wrestling . The Arena México was renovated and the standard of the sports facility increased for the 1968 Summer Olympics . A press center was set up and the underground car park expanded. Boxing competitions were held there during the games . Boxing was the most successful sport for Mexican athletes at these Olympics.
